How It Works

Moonbean books are beautifully illustrated with built-in audio. A loved one records the narration from anywhere in the world. Your child gets a book they can listen to again and again.

Your loved one records

They simply read the story on their phone. The story and illustrations stay exactly as they are - it’s their voice that makes it personal.

They receive a recording guide with ideas for making it their own. The story and illustrations stay the same. The voice and the personality are entirely theirs.

We do the rest

We add the recording to the book and post it straight to your door. Ready for bedtime.

How does it work?

You choose a story and share a simple recording link with your loved one. They record themselves reading it on their phone - from anywhere in the world. We add their voice to a beautifully illustrated book and post it to you.The story and illustrations stay the same - the voice becomes uniquely theirs.

What ages is it suitable for?

Designed for young children and preschoolers.

Does the narrator have to stick to the text?

The story and illustrations stay as written — that's what makes the book work. But we send every narrator a recording guide with ideas for making it feel personal. A message at the start, a silly voice for a character, a little in-joke only your child will get.

Can more than one person record?

Yes. One book, one recording — but that recording can include as many voices as you like. Grandma and grandad can read it together. A sibling can chip in. The more the merrier.

A little note from our founder

It started with a soundbook and a voice that meant nothing to us

Enzo was born in France, far from his Czech and Australian grandparents. We want him to grow up feeling close to them, despite the distance.

My mum is especially devoted to him. We call her his “Montessori Grandma” because every visit is filled with books, drawing, baking, dancing, puzzles and whatever new activity she’s discovered for him. Reading together has always been a big part of their relationship.

When Enzo was two, I watched him listening to a soundbook narrated by a generic voice that meant nothing to us. I remember thinking: what a shame it isn’t my mum reading to him.

That thought became Moonbean Stories.
